Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain tends to be a local's favorite, partially because of its naturally separated terrain, which divides snowriders by ability. The mountain offers 2,450 skiable acres, and free snowcat rides to Copper's legendary Tucker Mountain aid skiers and riders in finding fresh powder.

It lies on the western end of Summit County, just off of Interstate 70. The closest town is Frisco. Copper Mountain is the closest to Vail, out of all the towns in Summit County.

Intrawest Corporation infused the area with money, improving the villages at Copper Mountain and creating a thriving, main village, which now hosts summer concerts and festivals. It also built new hotels, condominiums, restaurants, shops and bars. Whether you enjoy ice skating on the pond in the winter, golfing in the summer, watching chocolate being made in a local shop or taking in a fire show, Copper Mountain has you covered.

In January 2009, Camp Woodward at Copper is set to open. Camp Woodward began in Pennsylvania and is an action-sports and gymnastics camp. The camp at Copper is Woodward's first winter-focused facility. The 19,000-square-foot, 45-foot-tall building will offer progressive teaching tools, such as foam pits, trampolines and synthetic snow for skiers and riders.
