Perhaps the standout feature of Dillon real estate is that much of it provides views of Lake Dillon.
But Dillon wasn't always attached to a lake. When it incorporated in 1883, it began as a trading post and stage stop. Then it moved closer to the railroad, and moved again years later to be between the Blue, the Ten Mile and the Snake Rivers. By 1961, the town relocated a third time, when the Denver Water Board demanded that residents evacuate the town so it could build a huge reservoir. Now, the reservoir, or Lake Dillon as residents like to call it, spans 26.8 miles of shoreline and has a surface area of 3,233 acres, which holds more than 1 billion gallons of water. Read more
The condos and homes that have lake views sell for a premium. However, some condos have more amenities than others, which means you can still buy condos with an amazing view at a lower price with little or no amenities than condos that come with pools, hot tubs, laundry rooms, carports or garages.
Three main areas in Dillon offer spectacular lake views: in-town properties that are built on the shores of Lake Dillon and those that circle the lake from the hillside above; properties across the highway in Corinthian Hill, which provide a bird's eye view of the lake and mountains; and homes and duplexes in the exclusive Summerwood neighborhood, where boaters gaze up the sheer cliffs to find a handful of magnificent homes above them.
In the town of Dillon, there are many more condo units with lake views than there are homes. Each has nearby access via footpath to the shores of the sparkling lake, and to the Dillon Marina, which rents boats and slips.
The majority of homes with a view of Lake Dillon are found in Corinthian Hill, and usually the most expensive are in Summerwood.
