Every town and resort offers Summit County lake, river and creek property; it's just a matter of whether you prefer living near a vast, calm lake or a babbling creek or river.
The largest body of water in Summit County is the Dillon Reservoir, or Lake Dillon as it's known. The lake is 3,233 acres large, and it offers about 26 miles of shoreline, stretching from Dillon, around Frisco, to Farmer's Korner, which is on the way to Breckenridge. Read more
Dillon real estate
In-town Dillon real estate is filled with condominiums that line the shores of Lake Dillon, as well as overlook the lake from a ridgeline, which surrounds a portion of the water. There are also several Dillon homes that rest along the shoreline, or overlook it.
Properties range in size, from studio condos to multiple bedrooms, as well as in price and age. But no matter where you live along Lake Dillon, your mountain property will offer private decks or patios, where you can soak in sunlight as you watch sailboats glide across the vast sparkling water. Homes and condos across from Highway 6 also overlook Lake Dillon, giving homeowners dazzling and expansive views of the serene lake.
One of the most prestigious locations for lake real estate is just past the town of Dillon, in a subdivision called Summerwood. Here, a handful of distinctive homes sit perched high on a cliff, overlooking a secluded finger of the lake.
Frisco lake and river real estate
Frisco real estate offers either lake views or creekside properties. Luxury Frisco townhomes, such as the Lagoon Townhomes and Marina Park Condominiums, have views of Lake Dillon while still being within close walking distance to Frisco's vibrant Main Street. Frisco lake properties stretch along the shorelines of Lake Dillon, starting with condos located on or very near the Dam Road (which connects Dillon and Frisco) to those sitting near the Frisco Marina and beyond.
In addition to lake-front living, there are plenty of Frisco condominiums, duplexes and single-family homes that border Ten Mile Creek, which runs near Main Street. Miner's Creek, in the forested and well-established Bill's Ranch community, provides another opportunity for refreshing living.
The beauty of Frisco creek living is that when homeowners open their windows, they can hear the water running over smooth boulders, and as they sit on their decks, their bodies naturally relax as they watch water simply flowing downstream. In the winter, the creeks transform into a picturesque mountain scene, with water trickling through ice and piles of snow.
Keystone lake and river real estate
Keystone's quaint village lake turns into a winter wonderland during ski season, as giant Christmas trees illuminate the frozen lake, which is the largest Zamboni-maintained rink in North America.
In the summer, Keystone Lake becomes a peaceful respite. Lakeside Village offers condominiums with amazing views of the lake and ski area, but perhaps the best part is how close the homes are to Keystone's award-winning fine dining restaurants and casual eateries.
The Snake River meanders through Keystone real estate, comprised of luxury single-family homes and beautiful town homes. Miles of hiking and biking trails wind alongside wetlands, where homeowners can spot beavers and plenty of other wildlife. Large, distinctive homes in East Keystone give homeowners a private feel, with wooded forests and a flowing river right outside their door.
Copper Mountain river and creek real estate
Copper Mountain creek real estate delivers the best of both worlds: It allows for creek side living near the Ten Mile Creek, as well as ski-in, ski-out properties. Union Creek is a quiet neighborhood full of upscale homes on Copper Mountain's beginner side of the mountain. Hundreds of trails lie outside Copper Mountain creek properties, providing plenty of recreation for homeowners and guests.
Breckenridge river and pond real estate
The Maggie Pond is a small pond near Breckenridge Ski Area's Peak 9 base. In the winter, skaters glide across the frozen pond, while summer opens up serene views of tranquil water. Some Breckenridge ski-in, ski-out condos provide easy access to the ski area, as well as inspiring vistas of Maggie Pond.
The famous Blue River runs through Breckenridge, between Main Street and the ski area, but it also flows beside in-town properties, as well as those in the small town of Blue River, south of Breckenridge.
Silverthorne river real estate
The part of the Blue River that is known for its gold medal fishing runs through Silverthorne. Older and newer homes line the vibrant river. Some luxury homes and ranches north of Silverthorne don't allow outsiders access to the river, which makes for natural, undisturbed living.
Silverthorne real estate also includes newer townhomes and single-family homes built along private fishing ponds. Golf course properties overlook small water holes and ponds as well.
