*A brief history on Ruby Ranch: The homestead buildings before you were home for Charlie and Ruby Lowe for 42 years. From their arrival in 1930 they nurtured this special place with the hard work demanded of all true Summit County pioneers.
It was tough to make a living on a 405 acre high mountain ranch and so Charlie worked on various placer claims and ran a steam shovel building Green Mountain Dam from its start in 1937 to its completion in 1943. Ruby taught school for 33 years and served as county superintendent of schools for six years while they raised their daughter, Carla, and cared for their "jewel" of a ranch. This Ruby Ranch memorial is dedicated by those who knew and loved Charlie and Ruby.
