Parade of Homes
Every year, Summit County's Parade of Homes highlights the beauty of mountain living. The Summit County Builders Association schedules the event to coincide with the fall change of colors, when aspens and shrubs turn into vibrant yellows and reds.
This year's Parade of Homes takes place Sept. 20-21 and Sept. 27-28. The 19th annual event features 11 of the finest homes in Summit County. Seven of the homes are located in Breckenridge.
You'll see a stunning remodel of a 1982 Breckenridge pre-built modular duplex, which now literally looks like a custom mountain home. Another Breckenridge log home highlights a 16-foot stone fireplace and 1,300 square feet of decks and covered patios. Yet another showcases a 16-person theater (complete with a stage) and a fitness room with all the bells and whistles.
Parade of Homes is full of the latest green technology, from reclaimed snow fence interior accents and reclaimed barn wood siding to a SIPS panel roof, ICF foundation and a large thermal mass contributing to one of the Breckenridge log home's ENERGY STAR rating HERS score of 54.
The Parade of Homes also features the latest in contemporary interior designs to spark your imagination when it comes to the mountain home you own - or want to buy.
"After several challenging years, the building bug is starting to hit Summit County again," said chairperson Lynn Meyers. "Now is a great time to get out and see what's on the horizon in new construction."
$15 Admission with proceeds benefiting The Summit Foundation
All proceeds go to a good cause - The Summit Foundation, which helps nonprofits throughout the county. Last year, 3,666 people walked through the homes in Breckenridge Co real estate, Copper, Keystone and Silverthorne Colorado.

Many of the homes feature green-built techniques, including active and passive solar. Some of the homes are over-the-top, with a stone waterfall in one of the master bathrooms and Summit County's only corner less NanaWall.
