(k) Magnificent Miners and the Old West Summer Camp – The Breckenridge Rec Center and Breckenridge Heritage Alliance have partnered to bring this natural Breckenridge history experience of a lifetime! Travel back to the old days when Breckenridge was a haven for gold miners, outlaws, Native Americans and elegant ladies. Explore the land and the magnificent animals that the traders of the old west depended on. You will get a chance to pan for gold, tour the old firehouse and visit the site of a historical dredge boat. You will also make candles the old fashioned way, make cordage from natural materials, use pioneer tools and be visited by some local historical characters! Pick up and drop off will be at The Breckenridge Recreation Center to allow for seamless participation in the afternoon Breckenridge Mountain Camp. Campers (ages 6-12) should bring a water bottle, backpack, snack sturdy shoes and extra layers. Camper packet required. Contact Breck Rec Center at 970 453-1734 for more info or to register. Camp runs August 11, 12, 14 and 15.
