Summit County Colorado is a fantastic place for your vacation, whether alone or with family, all seasons of the year. This area of Colorado contains several cities with important differences to consider when planning your trip. For instance, while most areas here offer beautiful mountainside ideal for skiing, Keystone has a brand new bike park and Copper Mountain has a quaint village which hosts several live music festivals a year. These things can be a little bit confusing, so I have included a brief breakdown on a few of the local cities and options for Summit County activities there. Keystone- “Adventure Point” offers a fantastic snow tubing slope; there are snowshoe tours offered; and the largest outdoor skating rink in North America is located here
Breckenridge- Most activities are outdoors. One interesting experience available would be the Nordic Sleigh tours, an old fashioned, horse drawn good time.
Copper Mountain- In the winter: hiking or snowshoeing through White River National Forest. In the summer: fishing at one of the world renowned creeks.
Dillon- visit the Beaverhead River, a great place to fish, swim, or enjoy the waterfall.

In general, Summit County offers more unique activities than can be experienced with one trip. So it is important to optimize your time here by finding your favorites. In the summer, there are just as many, if not more activities to choose from. For the more adventurous, try white water rafting down one of the several rivers or hang gliding off Blue Ridge at Green Mountain Reservoir. Another very good way to take in the countryside would be to ride in a hot air balloon or train. Of course, Summit County does offer many milder activities for those of us not interested in such intense sport. One might try biking, or riding an ATV or even horse on one of many trails, experiencing the fantastic flora and fauna. There are several historic tours to be taken, including guided trips to local gold mines.

Of course, the selection of activities greatly varies by season. In the winter, outdoor options are mostly limited to those that are snow-related.
