DESCRIPTION
This luxury paired home is located at Angler
Mountain Ranch in Silverthorne, Colorado.
Angler Mountain Ranch is the newest upscale
community in Summit County and is situated
on 192 acres—nearly half of which are set
aside for open space.
Angler Mountain’s home for this year’s tour
is a 2,400-square-foot paired home designed
for casual living. Striking exterior elements,
inspired by historic Colorado mountain ranch
homes, include moss-rock, hand-hewn siding
with corrugated metal accents and roughsawn
timbers. Alder cabinetry, doors and
case-work were used to create a warm, familyfriendly
interior. Designed for family living,
the home’s interior features an open floor
plan with vaulted ceilings and two master
suites. The kitchen includes stainless-steel
appliances, a wine refrigerator, granite-slab
countertops and slate flooring. Other
features include hand-scraped wood flooring,
in-floor radiant heat, a moss-rock fireplace, a
heated two-car garage and lake views.
Accessed via a rustic timber-and-stone
bridge that spans Blue River, Angler
Mountain Ranch is the perfect family retreat.
Fronted by the Blue River to the west, with a
private fishing lake on the property, Angler
Mountain Ranch offers outdoor activities
such as fishing, hiking and snowshoeing and
has a trailhead connection to the national
forest. Ownership opportunities range from
custom home lots, to 2,400-2,800 square foot
cabin homes and paired homes that are
available from 1,800 square feet to 2,400
square feet. Almost all of the homes and
homesites orient toward the Gore Range for
maximum sun exposure and views.
If you are looking for a second home or to
downsize and have less maintenance and
more living, Angler Mountain Ranch might
be just right for you.
DIRECTIONS
From I-70 take Silverthorne exit. Turn north
onto Blue River Parkway for 2 miles. Turn

DESCRIPTION
When homeowners Buck and Jean Tippins
were planning for retirement, they fell in
love with Summit County and its year-round
recreation opportunities. “We’ve always
loved mountains, fishing and log homes. We
combined the talents of Brian Higgins,
architect, and local log home specialist
Brian Wray, general contractor, to create a
beautiful, livable and comfortable home that
is just right for us. The design, craftsmanship
and location on the Blue River complement
each other. The on-site coordination
of the staff and subcontractors during the
building process made the home better
than we ever could have imagined!”
From the paver-stone driveway, guests are
welcomed by a hand-carved eagle on the
ridge beam and hand-carved front door with
sand-cast Emtek hardware. Native moss rock
enhances the beauty of hand-peeled logs
and Mountain Log Homes’ signature beetle
pine board-on-board siding.
The natural landscaping of mature
Engelmann spruce and willows was complemented
by the addition of aspen trees.
Perennial wildflowers attract native birds
and wildlife that can be enjoyed from multiple
outdoor living spaces. The homeowner’s
Labrador retriever plays in the 30-foot dog
run and her own dog wash in the garage.
The homeowners enjoy their home’s
vaulted ceilings, comfortable traffic pattern
and excellent storage spaces, from built-in
bookcases to innovative under-eave spaces.
The spacious master bath features a jetted
tub, steam shower with etched door and
hand-painted Kohler sinks and accessories.
Although the home is more than 4,300
square feet, Jean achieved a cozy
“Appalachian cabin” style with the addition
of six-inch-wide tongue-and-groove pine on
the framed interior walls.
This home was built for energy efficiency
with ENERGY STAR-rated appliances, high Rvalue
insulation, Low-E windows, a high-efficiency
boiler and a Built Green certification.

Adjacent to the slopes of Copper Mountain
and resting against untouched national forest
land is a treasure called “Baker House.”
An artistic collaboration between award-winning
GC Luxury Homes and BHH Partners,
Baker House is a truly remarkable home.
BHH has stepped outside of the box and
designed a home premised on modern
architecture—a rarity in Summit County. The
urban alpine style blends organic architecture
with contemporary mountain flair. Dedicated
to the memory of our dear friend Gene
Baker, Baker House stands as a monument
to Gene’s friendship and is a reminder of
his wonderful talent.
The understated exterior is a brilliant
contrast to the breathtaking and exquisite
interior. The grand entrance opens to a twostory
wall of glass through which majestic
trees stand. A floating bridge feature,
breathtaking views of the Ten Mile Range,
unobstructed views of Vail Pass, and endless
windows lend the feeling of floating on top
of the trees. High-volume ceilings, generous
rooms, multiple fireplaces, and intimate
spaces throughout create a blend of magnitude
tempered with comfort.
The stunning chef’s kitchen has bamboo
countertops, boutique granite countertops,
an enormous island and state-of-the-art
appliances ideal for everything from family
gatherings to intimate nights. Other fine
features, including reclaimed Chinese elm
floors harvested from temples and palaces
built during the Ming Dynasty, bamboo
floors, custom cherry cabinetry, chic hardware,
rare onyx slabs, and intricate glass
tile work come together to create a
wonderful work of art.
As sustainable as it is beautiful, Baker
House also features in-floor radiant heat
throughout, sustainable building practices,
recycled materials, high-efficiency boilers
and heater, a state-of the-art insulation
package, ENERGY STAR appliances and
fixtures, and absolute energy efficiency.

DESCRIPTION
When it comes to building “green”, Apex
Mountain Homes does more than accept
the responsibility. The firm embraces the
challenge. The Hart residence in Frisco is a
beautiful example of this commitment to
sustainability and demonstrates that homeowners
needn’t sacrifice luxury when
building to eco-friendly standards.
The exterior of this home is crafted in
classic Apex style to engage the surrounding
views. Massive hand-hewn timbers of local
beetle-kill wood are angled to echo the
craggy slopes of nearby Royal Mountain,
while natural dry-stacked moss rock reflects
the grandeur of its exposed rock faces.
Inside, natural stone, reclaimed hickory flooring
and locally crafted alder cabinetry are
not only beautiful, but also represent sustainable
materials and practices. Eco-friendly
wool carpet adds another natural, environmentally
friendly element to the interior.
While the home is luxurious in appearance,
it is miserly in energy consumption and
is a stellar example of sustainable building.
The home earned so many points under the
newly adopted Summit Sustainable Building
Code that the plan-review fee was refunded
by the town of Frisco. What’s more, the
home tested 55 on the internationally recognized
Home Energy Rating System (HERS),
meaning the home is 45% more efficient
than one built to typical code standards.
Superb efficiency results not only from
craftsmanship and design, but from the use
of features like triple-pane windows,
ENERGY STAR appliances, airtight sprayfoam
insulation, and a heat-recovery
ventilator. The practical scale of the home
itself—which makes efficient use of space—
makes all the difference.
Nature has left us a spectacular inheritance
in Summit County. This home is an
example of how Apex Mountain Homes
will complement, preserve and protect
that green legacy.

DESCRIPTION
The owners of this home wanted a warm
and inviting mountain home in the woods
where their family and friends could gather.
Breckenridge Realty’s Kim Stevenson found
the ideal lot to meet the owner/architect’s
requirements: one with dense trees and
a sloping terrain.
The lot’s dense forest and privacy begged
for outdoor spaces that would allow the
family to enjoy that tranquility even if the
weather would not cooperate, and so the
design team created a covered deck that
extends the indoor space to the outdoors; a
stone fireplace removes the chill from the air.
The owners wanted their home to feel as
if it had already stood the test of time. Their
vision was realized with reclaimed wood
floors, a reclaimed wood ceiling in the
master bedroom, the use of exterior stone
material inside the home, distressed
Douglas fir timbers, knotty alder cabinets,
trim and doors, stones and granite, warm
earth-tone colors, and attention to small
details at every turn. The exterior design
allows the home to exist in harmony with
its natural setting.
During the conceptual design phase,
input was given by family, friends, Marc
Hogan and Tom Eble. Hogan provided constructive
comments that enabled the owner
to transition his schematic designs to BHH
Partners. Tom Eble, President of Cabernet
Construction, was chosen early in the design
process served as a valuable resource for
planning, design and construction.
Cabernet Construction made the building
process a wonderful experience, and the
family appreciates the efforts of all the
craftsmen who worked on the home. After
visiting Colorado for over thirty years with
the dream of a place of their own, they now
have their little piece of wooded bliss.
DIRECTIONS
From Hwy. 9 South, turn left on Tiger Rd.
and proceed to the top of the hill. Turn right
when entering the Breckenridge Golf
Course. Turn right at the three-way stop

DESCRIPTION
“Stone columns supporting wooden beams,
the warmth and scent of a wood-burning fireplace
and carefully framed views of green
valleys and snow-topped peaks. A rustic
mountain homage to F. L. Wright, a residence
inspired by 1920s craftsman architecture. A
home filled with light, music, art, laughter,
and calm.” These inspired words from clients
were interpreted and transformed through
the design/build process by Trilogy Partners.
And the result: the home that the owners of
581 Preston Way in Breckenridge had been
dreaming of for a lifetime.
The owners, who had been inspired by
other Trilogy projects, charged the design
and build team at Trilogy Partners with all
aspects of planning, design and construction.
With the assistance of their design partners,
Trilogy helped the owners achieve a home
perfectly sited to capture stunning valley
and mountain views. A rustic stone fireplace
anchors the living room. Two master suites
were a must, as was a romantic owners’
bathing suite and a gourmet kitchen
designed for multiple chefs because the
owners enjoy cooking together.
Because this home above all was a place
to gather, there is plenty of room for family
and friends to unite during the holidays to
ski, watch a movie, cook a meal, and enjoy
one another’s company. A place from which
to appreciate the high country, to watch the
sun set, the snow fall, the seasons change.
A home like this is not built in a day but
in many. Much thought and energy are
required, just the right balance of creativity
and practicality, and, above all, patience.
And in the end, as with all Trilogy Projects,
the result is something uniquely reflective of
the owners, and lasting. On display now and
for many years at 581 Preston Way in The
Highlands at Breckenridge.

DESCRIPTION
This home, designed by local architect Marc
Hogan of BHH Partners, features log postand-
beam construction handcrafted by
Fazendin’s staff of log craftsman, and a
stone and cedar exterior. A flagstone entry
walk and winding flagstone and moss-rock
stairway leads to the front door, displaying
some of the many high-quality details and
finishes featured throughout the home.
Just inside, a large open entry reveals a
handcrafted log stairway that leads to the
home’s five levels. Up just a half-flight from
the entry is a small library and study. Beyond
a pair of French doors is the master suite,
which features a moss-rock fireplace, master
bath with large double vanity, towel-warming
drawer, whirlpool tub and steam shower.
Through another pair of French doors is a
study. The master suite also features a spacious
closet complete with custom built-in
cabinetry and access to a private, flagstone
deck with great mountain views. A half-flight
above the master bedroom is a loft that
overlooks the entry and spacious great
room, and offers a 3/4 bath and is ideal for
accommodating extra guests.
Just two steps down from the entry is the
great room, which has spectacular views of
the forest and mountains. The structural
logwork is massive but the space has the
very comfortable feel of a true mountain
home, thanks to its 22-foot-high moss-rock
fireplace, 6′ x 6′ structural ridge skylight,
knotty pine ceilings, wide-plank hickory
flooring and radius windows with motorized
roll-down blinds.
The kitchen has been finished with
custom knotty alder cabinetry and heavy log
support columns at each end of the island.
Appliances include Asko dishwashers, a
Sub-Zero built-in refrigerator, a 48″ Wolf
natural gas range top, a Wolf double oven,
a Wolf convection microwave and a Sub-
Zero wine refrigerator. A prep sink in the
island and wide-plank hickory wood floors
add convenience and style.
Beyond the kitchen is an octagonal sun
room with stone wainscoting, hand-hewn log
beams, wood ceilings and lots of windows
which afford a wonderful panoramic view
into the woods. The dining room, which has
an atrium door that leads out to a covered
deck with a cozy fireplace, is adjacent to the
kitchen and overlooks the great room.
Behind the kitchen there is a powder
bath which features a copper pedestal sink
and slate floors, and a utility room, complete
with pantry cupboards, an additional
refrigerator and front-loading washer and
dryer on pedestals.
Just off of the entry way is a mud room,
which features custom-built knotty alder cubbies
and a bench, along with another laundry
room and the entry to the heated garage.
The home’s lower level includes a family
room which features billiards, a game table
area, a home theater with moss-rock fireplace
and a wet bar. Attached to the family
room is a mini master suite, the “Hacienda”
bedroom and bath, a wine room with a
moss-rock wall, a full bath and an additional
bedroom. An exterior heated patio is the
perfect spot for a future hot tub and fire pit.
Fazendin Brothers has been specializing

DESCRIPTION
What is it that truly defines a dream home?
Is it lavish and luxurious finishes, abundant
amenities or sprawling mountain views? This
unique home has it all and takes it a step
further, focusing not only on quality finishes
but also on what lies below the surface.
Energy efficiency and sustainability are
important, and this home proves that you can
be a good steward of our planet while
enjoying the benefits of the high-end, quality
custom finishes of a mountain home. This
graceful home combines a beautiful, environmentally
responsible design with technology
that makes it even more sustainable.
Working together with the owner and
designers, RJB Development was able to
construct a home that utilizes a “house as a
system” approach. By looking at the home as
a whole and realizing that no one system was
enough, the various unique “micro systems”
were brought together to function as a high
efficiency, beautifully constructed home.
The home utilizes water-saving features
such as low-flow plumbing fixtures and smart
irrigation systems that water the lawn and
plants using an underground drip/micro
irrigation system. The home is constructed
from engineered, environmentally friendly
materials, with radiant-heated floors and an
efficient lifetime composition and metal roof.
Walls contain closed-cell spray-foam insulation,
which seals the envelope of the home
and limits unwanted air infiltration. European
tilt-and-turn low-E2 windows reflect heat and
harmful ultraviolet light while providing
ample natural ventilation. With the touch of a
switch, motorized Rolladen security shutters
can automatically shade the windows to keep
rooms cool. The HEPA whole-house air-circulation
system helps maintain a healthy environment
and a high level of indoor air quality.
All the appliances are ENERGY STAR rated
for better efficiency, from the Viking refrigerator
to the low-water-consumption dishwasher.
What’s more, this 4,000-plus-square-foot
custom home is powered by 45 solar panels.
The Sanyo solar-photovoltaic (PV) panels
comprise a 9.0-kilowatt system that feeds
electricity to the grid and effectively spins
the home’s meter backwards during
Colorado’s abundant sunny days.
Tying together these unique systems is the
home-automation system. The automation
infrastructure is set up with the capability to
efficiently monitor and control lighting, blinds,
shutters, irrigation controls, thermostats, the
security system, audio and video, weather
monitoring, elevator and other components.
It is the hope of all who have helped put
this masterpiece together that you’ll have the
opportunity to visit this unique home that is
an example of what meticulous planning and
quality construction can accomplish.
DIRECTIONS
From I-70 take exit #205 and head east on
Hwy. 6 for 2.5 miles. Turn left on Corinthian
Circle. Turn left on Ensign Dr. and the house
