(a) Art for Artists – Not an arts and crafts activity, this program provides opportunities for younger studio arts enthusiasts to learn serious art techniques in a concentrated period of time. The morning workshop will focus on 2-D work, exploring drawing and painting using media such as pencil, charcoal pastels, acrylic paints, and watercolors. Young artists will tackle such projects as wacky portraits, still-life drawing and landscapes while learning essential techniques such as color mixing, tonal value, and composition. The afternoon workshop will focus on 3-D work exploring traditional and nontraditional building techniques using media such as cardboard, wire, clay, mesh, and plastic. Young artists take on such projects as cardboard chairs, magical mini worlds, and too tall totems. Instruction by Theresa Duceyet Clowes at the Fuqua Livery Stable, 110 E.
