$8.28 Million Breckenridge Home Sale Sets Record. Summit County’s Most Expensive Residential Lot Sells For $3.3 Million
Breckenridge real estate has set yet another sales record – this time for the most expensive Breckenridge home ever sold, at $8.28 million.
On Dec. 30, 2009, the $8,285,000 Breckenridge home sale closed, adding affirmation that the Breckenridge real estate market is still well and alive – and getting better.
The Breckenridge home sale breaks the previous record of the most expensive Breckenridge real estate sold by approximately $2.7 million! (The last record-breaking Breckenridge home sold for just over $5 million, in July, 2008, and was located in the same neighborhood.)
The 6,565-square-foot Breckenridge home was listed for $8.39 million. It is a ski-in, ski-out Breckenridge home, located near Breckenridge Ski Area’s base of Peak 8, in Timber Trail subdivision, on Trygve’s Ski Run.
Built in 2006, the Breckenridge home has 7 bedrooms, a great room, library and media room with elm and stone flooring, 9 bathrooms, a 3-car garage, 4 fireplaces and more than 2,000 square feet of heated patios, with a hot tub and built-in grill facing Breckenridge Ski Area. It also includes access to a pool and fitness center.
Ty and Kimberly Pennington bought the Breckenridge home, which sold for $1,261.99 per square foot, with cash.
And, there seems to be plenty of people wanting to purchase Breckenridge real estate for $2 million or more. In 2009, the number of local real estate transactions that closed for $2 million or more actually increased from 2008, from 21 to 23 homes. Many of these homes sold for 88-90% of the Breckenridge real estate asking price, and some Breckenridge homes sold for the sellers’ exact asking price – or even higher.
Two big reasons for continual interest in Breckenridge real estate is that people desire property in ski resort towns, and buying Breckenridge real estate allows them to diversify their investments, rather than focusing primarily on what continues to be a shaky stock market.
