Breckenridge is a town with a lot to offer. A beautiful town nestled in the Colorado Rockies it has been for decades one of the United State’s premier winter resorts. In recent years its best kept secret has begun to leak out: the summers in Breckenridge are just as amazing if not more so than the winters. But Breckenridge holds a lot more in store for visitors and potential residents. One of the best parts about Breckenridge is the Breckenridge Recreation Center.

Where does one begin singing the praises of Breckenridge Recreation Center? Do we talk about the well constructed facilities including everything from tennis to swimming to rock climbing walls? The steam room, sauna and hot tub (both indoor and outdoor) facilities? Maybe mention the skate park, the two softball fields or maybe the kayak park?

We'll start with the stunning location, because that is the first thing you will notice when you first drive to Breckenridge Recreation Center. The center is massive (it has to be to fit so many facilities), but it is placed in just about the most beautiful spot that any recreation center in all of the United States can claim.

It stands right along the banks of the beautiful Blue River. In the summer time you are surrounded by a veritable see of green, an emerald ocean extending as far as the eye can see. Rolling hills litter the area, and in the distance you can see the still white-capped mighty Rocky Mountains which Breckenridge calls home. You'd find it just about impossible to find a more beautiful location for a recreation center.

The building itself is beautifully constructed. Bright reds and blues adorn the building, which is separated into a more traditional structure as well as a fabulous circular welcoming center. Every time a person visits Breckenridge Recreation Center they are immediately impressed not only by the scenery but by the beautiful construction.

Of course this is avoiding the real crux of the matter: what does Breckenridge Recreation Center have to offer? Any recreation center worth its salt is going to have to have plenty of facilities. My friends, you will not be disappointed.

Starting with just the indoor facilities we have: a gymnasium, a 25 yard, 4 lane lap pool, a leisure pool with water slide, steam room, sauna and hot tub facilities, 2 rock climbing walls, a full range of cardiovascular equipment, a free weight room, 2 tennis courts, 2 racquetball / Wallyball courts, a running track, and an aerobic studio.

All of this is combined with personal trainers to fit your every need, a wide variety of fitness classes offered throughout the year, on-site child care, a community room complete with kitchen, separate locker rooms for men and women and a vending area.

Now that we've seen what Breckenridge Recreation Center has to offer on the inside, let's look at the outside: skate park, basketball court, hot tub, sun deck, 2 softball fields, a soccer/rugby field, bike path, Kayak Park, playground, 4 hard tennis courts, and 4 clay tennis courts.
