Breckenridge Ski Resort-Home to the Highest Chair lift in North America
Imperial Express Super Chair, Breckenridge’s newest high speed quad chair lift, has the honor of being the highest in North America, reaching an elevation of 12,840 feet. Constructed in 2005, the Imperial Express SuperChair has been quoted at “the crowning touch on an already fabulous resort”, according to Roger McCarthy, chief operating officer for Breckenridge Ski Resort. Because of the Imperial Express SuperChair, Breckenridge resort’s 2,208 acres of magnificent ski terrain are accessible easily and quickly.
The Imperial Express SuperChair serves many of the Breckinridge slopes, as well as the in-bounds double-black diamond terrain used by “extreme” enthusiasts. (This famed territory was previously accessible only by hiking approximately 45 minutes to the summit of Peak 8, but can now by reached via a 2 ½ minute ride on the Imperial Express SuperChair.)

The Imperial Express SuperChair may be embarked from Peak 8 by following Frosty's Freeway to Chair 6. (From Peak 9, the Peak 8 Superconnect provides access to Frosty’s Freeway.) Skiers using the Rocky Mountain SuperChair can reach the Imperial Express SuperChair by utilizing the T-Bar, then following either the Lone Wolf or Nut Trail.
The Imperial Express SuperChair has the capacity to carry 600 riders per hour on its 15 chairs, but can be upgraded to 1800 per hour on 45 chairs. Upon reaching the highest elevation, a rider is offered panoramas of the town of Breckenridge, Baldy Mountain, Quandary Peak, Ten Mile Range, Lake Dillon, and Keystone Resort.
